RAM is a major pickup truck manufacturer here in the US and their products have never failed to satisfy everyone. Following the arrival of the latest Chevrolet Colorado, RAM has been heavily linked to respond with an even better mid-sized pickup truck.
Unfortunately, that does not look like happening at all. RAM admitted defeat earlier today when they say that they will not be producing any competitors for the Chevrolet Colorado.
RAM CEO, Bob Hegbloom revealed that there are four major criteria for a successful pickup truck – lesser capability than a full-sized pickup truck, more compact form, lower price and considerably higher fuel mileage.
Bob claims that it can be very easy to create a mid-sized pickup truck but things will get very difficult when it comes to making it fuel savvy and also priced competitively. Bob concluded by revealing that by fuel savvy, the pickup truck should average about 35mpg.
This is something RAM can achieve but it will make the mid-sized pickup truck very expensive to own. As such, RAM has conceded defeat.
