It is no secret that the Cayenne SUV from Porsche is going to get a facelift at the end of this month during the annual LA Auto show. Despite that fact, the German carmaker couldn’t control their excitement and decided to spill some details on the Cayenne GTS.
The latter is going to be something really special as it looks to run on the new 3.6L turbocharged V6 that will take over from the old 4.8L V8. This is the same motor that will be powering the upcoming Cayenne S. However, Porsche teased that it will have 20hp and 50Nm of torque more for the GTS model.
This is amazing as the 3.6L is much smaller in capacity than the 4.8L motor but it managed to be more powerful. In total, the Cayenne GTS will generate 434hp and 600Nm of torque. Also, the smaller mill ensures better fuel economy, tipped to be at a rate of 0.9L/100km.
Performance-wise, the Cayenne GTS is able to sprint from 0 to 62mph in just 5.2 seconds and there is a top speed of 262km/h. Again, this is a massive improvement from the previous model.
Aside from the powertrain, the Cayenne GTS is equipped with a more refined Porsche Active Suspension Management system, bigger brakes and a more lowered stance. This is completed with an overall new design to the interior and exterior of the vehicle.
While it all sounds great, it is still unfortunate that the teased information has yet to materialize. Then again, it won’t be long until the Cayenne GTS steps into the spotlight to change the world of luxury SUVs.
