For years now, Samsung has dominated the smartphone, phablet and tablet industry. The latest Galaxy Note 3 is the perfect example on why Samsung is the brand to choose. With Nokia on an uprising, does the Note 3 have what it takes to stand above the new Lumia 1520?
Looking at both devices, the Lumia 1520 is the larger phablet. It has a large 6” screen that runs at 367ppi, which is really impressive for its size. However, the Note 3’s 5.7” panel is about 5% sharper as it runs at 386ppi.
While the Lumia might have a larger 3,400mAh battery, it cannot last as long as the Note 3. This is due to the fact that the larger screen drains the battery faster.
In terms of speed, both devices are powered by the same Snapdragon 800 processor and Adreno 330 GPU. However, the Note 3 sprints past the Lumia 1520 thanks to a larger 3GB RAM. The latter has only 2GB of RAM.
When it comes to cameras, the Lumia 1520 manage to silence the Note 3 as it has a large 20MP rear and 1.3MP front shooters. The Korean phablet only has 13MP rear and 2.1MP front shooters. Then again, the Note 3 is capable of recording videos at 4K resolution, which the Lumia 1520 couldn’t.
All in all, this is a really tight contest and it is difficult to name a victor. However, we have to side with the Note 3 as it comes with an S-Pen that gives it some added functions for better productivity.
