NHTSA has launched a full investigation on the Nissan Versa that were manufactured from 2013 to 2015 and the Nissan Note that were manufactured from 2014 to 2015.
Apparently, the automotive governing body wishes to seek a reported issue where the footwell is causing massive interference to operating the floor pedals.
NHTSA has hired the services of a prominent engineer to analyse the issue and it the footwell is guilty of interfering with pedal functions, then Nissan will have to recall about 360,000 units of their vehicles.
The first report on the issue came from an owner of the Nissan Versa who claims that he got his foot stuck on the trim panel found in the footwell and this has led him to a crash. In total, 24 different Versa and Note owners have raised a similar issue and the rising ticket has got NHTSA investigating.
Of course, NHTSA has yet to make any final verdict yet but we can expect one to come in about a week from now.
