Students at the AMZ Racing club have cemented their name in the record books for creating a car with the fastest acceleration. The vehicle is called Grimsel and surprisingly, it runs on an all-electric motor.
In detail, Grimsel clocked only 1.785 seconds in the 0-62mpg sprint from standstill. The time achieved left the old record of 2.134 seconds in dust.
Upon hearing this, you are probably wondering on how the car managed to achieve the record. We got the answer to that. The record was achieved thanks to the Grimsel’s weight of just 168kg. Also, all four wheels are equipped with their own motor and it is the 49hp engine developed by AMZ Racing.
Finally is the torque. When all 49hp motors are pumping together, the Grimsel generates a whopping 1200 ft-lb of torque. Furthermore, the fact that the car is an EV means that the torque is ready from idling.
