Toyota had just launched the all-new Auris and the city hatchback now runs on the newly-developed turbo engine. The 1.2L turbocharged and direct-injected unit is known as the 8NR-FTS and it gives the Auris a huge performance boost.
In figures, the Auris is now able to generate a decent 114hp and 136ft-lbs of torque. Even with more power to offer, the Auris does not disregard its purpose of keeping fuel consumptions at its bare minimum.
While no fuel rating figures are out yet, Toyota brags that the turbocharged motor has the capability to offer better fuel mileage than before.
Of course, the 1.2L motor is just the entry level unit. Consumers can also choose either the 1.5L or 1.8L turbocharged motor with the Auris. Also, consumers can pick between the CVT transmission or a traditional 6-speed manual with the hatchback.
