McLaren believe that they don’t need to bring out an SUV in order to be able to generate their profits.
It seems that they believe that they can get away with existing just on sales of their high-end sports cars, the entry level Sports Series is going to be priced in excess of $150,000. The CEO said that the business plan of the company is smart enough to do away with the need for diluting the brand with an SUV.
He went on to say that profitability is based on three core concepts, spreading of sales evenly over North America, Europe and markets in Asia while at the same time controlling the costs and bringing out new models to keep customers interested.
This is going to result in McLaren being a brand that is self-sustained and focused on high-performance cars without any need for a vehicle that is volume selling that would beef up the bottom line.
McLaren only have but a handful of years of being in existence and whether or not they are able to prove how well they can manage without SUVs or whether they need them for a crutch will remain to be seen.
