Lotus is not a company that produce cars in bulk. They are the sort of brand that make cars exclusively and in limited numbers. Despite that fact, the Exige S have been selling so well that it has reached 1000 units in production.
This is not surprising as the Exige S draw its power by a Toyota-sourced 3.5 V6 engine with 345 horsepower on tap. Also, it is the cheapest model offered by Lotus but even so, consumers enjoy better aerodynamics and improved suspension setup.
While the Exige S has yet to get updated with a next-generation model, it does now come with more options like the new Toyota-developed 6-speed automatic with pedal shifters.
As for the 1000th model produced, it will come with a more refined tuning, together with the new automatic gearbox on board.
Lotus also revealed that the milestone was achieved thanks to Japan, which is where the Exige S sells most. This is followed by the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Australia, Hong Kong and Belgium.
