Back in November last year, Google launched the all-new Nexus 5 which gave the Samsung Galaxy S4, iPhone 5S, HTC One and many more flagship devices a run for their money. Now that Samsung has released the Galaxy S5, will it fall victim to the Nexus 5?
Putting both devices side-by-side, we noticed that the S5 is the bigger of the two as it houses a larger 5.1” screen that offers 432ppi. The Nexus 5 is slightly smaller as it has a screen that measures at 4.95”. The smaller screen also ensured better pixel density, which measures at 445ppi.
However, the S5 is the faster of the two as it runs on the more updated 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB RAM and Adreno 330 GPU. The Nexus 5 is powered by the older Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB RAM and Adreno 330 GPU.
Even on cameras, the S5’s 16MP rear and 2.1MP front shooters are so much better than the 8MP rear and 1.3MP front snappers on the Nexus 5. Furthermore, the S5 is able to shoot videos at 4K resolution.
The killer blow is with the fact that the S5 has 16GB of internal memory, with microSD support of up to 128GB. This can turn the S5 into a media hub while the Nexus 5 whines on its limited 16GB of space.
Obviously, the S5 is a big jump from the Nexus 5. Of course, the Nexus 5 can still brag on its value for money aspect, which remains unrivalled by any other smartphones today.
