Where the display technology in the tablet market is concerned, there is a small handful of products that is able to ‘meet the eye’. There is the Apple iPad Air that boast its much upgraded display, the Kindle HDX which looks promising and also the Google Nexus 10 that set a new benchmark in pixel count when it debuted in 2012.
DisplayMate’s writer, Soneira, did a comparison on the three devices display and was quick to reveal that the Kindle HDX is the clear winner, being the tablet to offer the best display ever.
The Kindle HDX sees off its competitors in every aspect from brightness, screen reflectance, high ambient light contrast up to colour accuracy. Amazon’s Kindle HDX got itself a score rating of ‘very good’ compared to that of ‘good’ from Apple’s iPad Air and ‘Poor’ on the Google Nexus 10. Even in terms of power management, Amazon’s tablet offers the lowest power consumption among the three.
The iPad Air has been improved significantly if compared to its 3rd and 4th generation predecessors. The tablet’s display got itself decreased reflectance, higher brightness levels and better contrast ratings with all credits going to the new IGZO produced displays. While it can be a prospect in years to come, the Kindle HDX is simply better.
The HDX is equipped with a high-quality Low-Temperature Poly-Silicon LCD similar to Apple’s iPhone, but only bigger.
It is a mismatch for the Google Nexus 10 as the device is nearing its retirement. Its glory days will all be left behind into technology history books.
