Hyundai Recall: Too Difficult To Stop

Hyundai is reportedly recalling a whopping amount of 304,900 Sonata sedans due to faulty brake pedals that can result in a host of problems, if left unattended. Affected units were specifically from build dates between 11th December 2009 and 30 June 2011, but there hasn’t been any reports or accidents or injuries so far.

These affected examples of the 2011-2012 Sonata have a faulty stopper pad, resulting in not allowing the brake lights to shut off. The defective stopper pad could “deteriorate” and allows the plunger to stay extended when the brake pedal is released, causing the brake lights to lit up even when the driver isn’t applying any pedal pressure. So, when Hyundai realizes the gradual increase of warranty claims in relation to the faulty pad, that’s when the automaker decides to take action.

This isn’t the first time Hyundai has had their vehicles recalled. The 2011 Sonata model sees a recall for eight other times, including a major one: potential engine failure. Let’s just hope the numbers won’t increase in the following years.
