One of the best smartphone ever to be produced will not disappear into the abyss just yet. The HTC One will remain in the realm of relevancy after its maker confirms that it will be the first to receive the latest Android 4.4 KitKat update.
The KitKat will be rolled out to the Google Play edition of the HTC One before the normal edition, which will be by the end of November 2013.
According to TechRadar, the update will be available in Europe, Middle East and Africa by the end of January 2014. However, HTC’s representative did not touch on the Sense 6.0 update and instead, revealed that the rollout will come with the Sense 5.5.
While the Sense 5.5 features the BlinkFeed and the ability to make animated GIFS, many were expecting the Sense 6.0 to be unveiled which is speculated to support wearables for the future to come.
Since HTC has revealed it that way, it can only mean that the Taiwan-based vendor is planning to reveal the Sense 6.0 on the already reported HTC M8, otherwise known as the HTC One Two. That will also need some confirming to do once HTC plans to talk about it.
Other HTC devices like the One Max and One Mini are also queuing up for the update but specific dates are yet to be announced. One thing is for sure is that users of the mentioned devices can expect the update to come their way.
