It is unfortunate that the driving laws do not come in a single standard. There are two types of driving systems in the world. One is left-hand drive (LHD) while the other is right-hand drive (RHD). Of course, majority of the world’s countries adopts the RHD system.
For expats, travellers, tourist that are visiting, or staying, in an LHD country, it can be a real problem when adapting to the new setup. The road system simply messes with the way you are used to practicing and adjusting yourself requires a long time.
The first tip is to maintain focus at all times. Whatever that you have been practicing on RHD roads will have to be mentally inverted for LHD roads. This can be nerve wrecking but it does help breaking the boundaries in your mind.
The second most important tip is speed. Keep your speed at its minimum until you are confident enough to handle the LHD system. Back in RHD roads, you keep right for slow moving vehicles. On the LHD roads, you keep left and you should do so.
The final tip is with the type or roads you should use. It is highly advisable for you to stick to the inner roads which consists a lot of traffic lights and turns. The traffic lights can be helpful for you to refresh your focus while the turns should get you adjusted in no time at all.
