Honda is recalling over 144, 00 of its Honda Civic for the software problem of the CVT. The use of high hydraulic pressure in the transmission can be at fault at times, and some of the parts that are made are not as good to be used. The two problems result in the shaft to break due to the high pressure.\
This swift action is taken after Honda receives its first report of a broken shaft in July 2014 in U.S and a wheel lockup in Canada six months later. 23 warranty claims were then received on September 3. Because of this, Honda will fix the CVT software of the Honda Civic that will start on October 16. Therefore, owners are advised to get their cars fixed as soon as the get the notice.
On another note, Honda Civic lovers are relief that Honda is at least taking an action to fix the problem, unlike BMW who encountered similar issue with the faulty CVT but were making its customers to pay a huge amount of money to repair their car.
CVT may not be reliable to many vehicles due to its brake, transmission and engine components issues. Many people would still choose to drive auto and are willing to pair extra for an automatic geared over the traditional one.
