Rockstar recently brought out the 1.08 update for GTA 5, bringing some patches along with a few extras with the beach DLC before it (beach vehicles, weapons and clothing). This was all good fun and gave players something new to think about, but they’re still eager for more stuff, as they think that GTA 5 is becoming less fun.
The studio has listened to the fans, so the 1.09 update should be awesome. What might we have to look forward to? Rockstar Support has already advised that we can expect new heists:
Rockstar could promote heist activities, for one thing. Heists are GTA 5’s USP, but this time round they’re restricted to single-player missions. These missions also need to be made a bit more realistic. A feature in which plans just go wrong will add some realism, and also force players to think on their feet if they want to get through. The Rockstar Support forum is filling with such suggestions and the developer is responding positively.
Casinos have also been suggested for GTA Online. This means that players can win – or lose – even more money, as well as have a bit of fun on the side with mini-games like poker or blackjack. Rockstar has already done this in Red Dead Redemption, so it is more than possible. We even saw some leaked files suggesting the next DLC could be casino-related.
The most outlandish suggestion is random alien invasions! Just imagine that you’ve had a hard day on the rob, and now you’re on your way home to recover and maybe get the odd bullet wound treated. Suddenly aliens appear from nowhere and make your day that little bit worse – could there be anything more exciting? Now before you coff at that, there is a mission where Trevor almost has a close encounter. Rockstar recently said that they had to leave many ideas unfinished but that they would bring it in the future as DLCs and patch update for GTA Online. So these little green men could turn up given that it does look just like one of the unfinished ideas that never progressed past that mission.
These are all great ideas, and easily do-able by Rockstar, so it’s down to the company to decide which suggestions to adopt. After their recent announcement that they are listening to suggestions from fans in both Rockstar forums and Reddit, fans are pushing forward even further with their opinions. The 1.09 update has been tipped for release next Tuesday so we will soon enough see what Rockstar has cooked up.
Update: It appears that the 1.09 update has rolled out! Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to offer much at all and in fact doesn’t even reclaim back any hacked money either which was believed to be the core purpose of the update. We’ll keep you posted on what exactly the update has to offer shortly.
