Ford had a reason to celebrate as Green Car Journal recently named the Ford F-150 Green Truck Of The Year for 2016, which was held at the San Antonio Auto & Truck Show.
It’s claimed that the F-150 bagged home the title for its fuel-efficiency, alternative fuels and sustainability elements. The truck is toughest, smartest and most capable F-150 ever, which includes the highest EPA-estimated highway fuel economy rating of any full-size gasoline pickup on the market, at 26 mpg. We’re impressed already. It’s also worth to note that it undergone the weight-loss regimen too, through the extensive use of aluminum and high-strength steel. Not forgetting its powerful 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6, which can really deliver strong on-road performance.
Another highlight of this truck is its use of sustainable materials, all with the general idea of reducing its environmental footprint. It’s the REPREVE fibre, made from recycled plastic bottles, which will further lead Ford into diverting more than 5 million plastic bottles from landfills this year. Apart from Green Truck of the Year, the Ford F-150 also won numerous other awards and accolades alike. We’re hopeful that this will fare very greatly in the market once it starts launching.
