GM Recall Affects Chevy & GMC Large SUVs &Trucks

General Motors (GM) does not wait any longer until the problem gets worse. GM is recalling more than 3k SUVs and North American trucks, which are the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra and the 2015 Chevy Suburban and Chevy Tahoe, and also the 2015 model heavy-duty pickups.

The faulty ignition lock gears which have an outer diameter larger than the specifications permit is the reason why the keys get stuck in the ‘start’ position and slip to ‘accessory’ if bumped. When this problem occurs, the engine turns off, and the driver loses assistance to the brakes and steering.

To overcome the problem, affected vehicles get a new ignition-lock housing. According to the Detroit News, a user who discovered the problem with the switch informed the officials at the automaker show as part of the Speak Up For Safety program. Luckily, there are no cases of craches and injuries so far.

Perhaps, the automaker can make a push-button ignition control as a way to solve the problem and ensure that it will never happen again. This is a serious issue since it may be affecting the users’ life and if anything bad happen, Chevrolet must take full responsibility of it.
