Back in the 1990s, most kids were playing with Hot Wheels. The toy car company was so successful that it the miniature vehicles automatically became a collectibles item. Despite that fact, there was one model that is most popular and it is the blue and orange Hot Wheels Rip Rod.
Today, the Rip Rod is no longer a toy car as is enlarged to life-size. Developed with the aid of Mattel and Bandito Brothers, the Rip Rod was first unveiled at SEMA last year. Back then, it was a static model. Now, the Rip Road is rampaging on the dirt roads.
Ford gave the vehicle life after equipping it with the 1L Ecoboost engine that generates 200hp on the Rip Rod. You can check out the video above. However, the American carmaker failed to explain their decision on investing on the Rip Rod. Could Ford be thinking of commercializing the vehicle?
Of course, prediction is a dangerous game and it is best to wait until November 4, next week. After all, that is when this year’s SEMA show will take place and Ford will surely give us an explanation then. Also, the Rip Rod will be looking to steal the spotlight again when the event kicks off.
