Both the latest Ford Fusion and Fiesta are facing an issue where the doors can be opened on its own without warning. No, this is not one of Ford’s innovative ideas and this explains why the carmaker is recalling the Fusions that were produced from 2013-2014 and the Fiestas from 2012-2014.
Ford revealed earlier today that the problem is with the broken pawl spring tab that prevents the doors from being sealed shut. The recall will basically replace the spring tab on all doors with the hope of preventing future occurrences.
Thankfully though, there has yet to be any accidents happening from the problematic doors. Fiesta and Fusion owners have been notified of the recall and they should get their vehicle inspected at the nearest Ford showroom. If the issue is found, Ford will fix it for free.
