Last year, Ford produced 5 million EcoBoost-equipped vehicles due to the high demand for the newly developed engine. Earlier today, the American carmaker went public to share the statistics of these EcoBoost-powered vehicles in Europe throughout last year.
To everyone’s surprise, more than 1 in 4 vehicles sold in Europe last year actually runs on an EcoBoost motor. The most popular of them all is the 1L 3-cylinder EcoBoost engine which powers the Ford Fiesta.
Apparently, most Europeans were appealed by how the small pot is able to produce so much power yet still being fuel economical at the same time. Furthermore, the small engine capacity offers Europeans cheaper car taxes.
Second to the Fiesta is the Focus, which managed to achieve a total of 222,297 units sold. Together with other Ford vehicles like the Mondeo, it seems like there is no stopping Ford in becoming the world’s leading carmaker.
