When Apple launched iOS 7.1 some time ago it came with many new enhancements along with fixing security issues that had been bypassed in iOS 7.
Just one week following its release an untethered jailbreak arrived for iOS 7.1 at 7jailbreak.com. People were surprised by this of course but then that surprise disappeared when it turned out that things were not as the seemed. The website said that you didn’t need to have your iPhone connected to the computer to do the jailbreak. It also said that the jailbreak would work on the iPhone 5S, the latest version of the iPhone from Apple.
Some people did think that it was the real deal as it was said that it came from Joshua Hill. This is the well-known jailbreaker who in the jailbreaking community has the name of P0Sixninja.
However Hill said that he had nothing at all to do with the jailbreak and it was nothing more than a fake. There were some owners of the iPhone who did download it and then their handset was filled with ads.
The community of jailbreakers have now been waiting to hear news about an iOS7.1 jailbreak from the Evad3rs, however the jailbreaking team have remained quiet. Perhaps they have been waiting for the arrival of iOS 8 from Apple.
Pod2g did say recently that providing he had some spare time he would look into jailbreaking iOS 7.1, so we will just have to wait and see what happens.
