We all know how most Chinese carmakers are nothing more than copycats but this does not include South East Motor. The latter single-handedly caught the attention of the world when it launched concept images of its future SUV, the DX7.
The thing is that this upcoming SUV is designed by Pininfarina. For those who have not heard of Pininfarina, the Italian firm design vehicles and their most notable clients are Ferrari and Maserati.
Of course, this does not mean that the DX7 is designed to look as sublime as a Ferrari or Maserati but decent at best. You can check out the concept rendering of the DX7 above and you can see what we meant by this.
The vehicle looks nice but in a way too similar to the Hyundai Tucson. Well, this cannot be helped as Pininfarina has to produce something that is fitting for the Asian market. Besides, it is not easy to design an SUV with many in the segment already looking too alike to each other.
On the bright side of things, the DX7 can be a start of a bright future and once Pininfarina can get a grip in the Asian market, they might do the unthinkable by giving South East Motor a design that is of the same calibre as the Ferraris.
