Chevrolet Cruze Recalls Is Simply As Bad As Honda’s

Honda has been on the headlines for the wrong reasons over the last couple of months. This is after a new case of an exploding airbag modulator which caused an injury to a driver. The case saw Honda performing a mass recall on its vehicles.

The airbag controversy with Honda is just the tip of the iceberg. Other carmakers that applied Takata airbags on their vehicles too are rushing to inspect their vehicles. GM, in particular, are halting the sales of the Chevrolet Cruze.

This is unfortunate for the American carmaker as the Cruze is their second bestselling vehicle in the world. In total, about 33,000 Cruze are recalled and those that are pending for sale are pulled back for further inspection.

GM’s spokesperson, Jim Cain, revealed that the company suspects that the driver’s air bag inflator module that has been assembled with incorrect parts for the Cruze. Of course, the fact that the same issue is faced by other carmakers will see a long supply shortage of the correct parts.

On the bright side of things, the faulty airbag isn’t similar to Honda’s case where it exploded. Regardless, 2014 has been a long year for GM as they have recalled more vehicles than any other year before this.
