Cadillac CTS-V: No Brakes!

General Motors has launched a recall that involves about 4,900 first-generation Cadillac CTS-V that are built from September 6, 2003 and June 11, 2007. This is because of a reported issue where the brakes malfunctioned.

A thorough investigation conducted by NHTSA confirms that the source of the issue is with the cored front brake hose that is fitted to the brake calipers. The corrosion basically caused the brae fuel to leak hence explaining why the brakes often fail.

The surprising bit is that most CTS-V owners are from the states with cold weather. It is understood that these states used rock salts on the road and that is the corroding element.

The Cadillac CTS-V owners have been notified of the recall and they are advised to head over to the nearest service centre for inspection. If the car is truly experiencing the braking problem, then GM will fix it for free.
