Ford and Microsoft have been working together to create the previous in-car infotainment system, but it look like Ford wants to change thing up.
For their next infotainment system, Ford will be working with Blackberry instead of Microsoft. The new system called Sync 3 will replace the previous MyFord Touch system, but that does not mean that Microsoft is out for good.
While the Blackberry QNX will be working on the new Sync 3 system and the updates after that, the updates will still pass through the Azure Cloud server by Microsoft before it makes its way into the Sync 3 system.
Microsoft will also be the ones working on giving the Sync 3 its WIFI connectivity. We should be seeing the new Sync 3 in action when Ford starts releasing their 2016 Ford and Lincoln models.
We will have to wait and see if Blackberry does a better job. With what the MyFord had to offer, it won’t take much for the Sync 3 to beat it.
