The Android Auto is currently in its final stages of development and it is going to make its global debut on the Hyundai Sonata as early as next month. This has got many car owners worried as their car purchasing decision will be more difficult with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay around.
This is because the car they want to buy might not have support for the mobile platform they are on. For example, if an Apple iPhone owner wishes to get the Hyundai Sonata, he will not be able to pair his device with the infotainment system.
Well, consumers can put their worries to rest as it does not work that way. In the automotive industry, mobile integration is still in its implementation stage. Hyundai shared that the infotainment system will still run on their brand software. The Android Auto will only be an option to boost the infotainment function.
Hyundai added that they will also integrate Apple Carplay. This way, the infotainment system can cater to both Android and Apple users. We can expect such an offering to be a norm for other carmakers in the years to come.
