Subaru is set to make an impression at the Tokyo auto show with the release of the 2017 Subaru Outback and coming up next, Subaru Impreza. What caught everyone’s attention at the show is the Viziv Future Concept. “Viziv”, or “Vision for Innovation” and “Future Concept” is pretty easy to understand. The Viziv is a two-door, but the design is said to preview the next-generation Subaru Outback.
There’s no detailed explanation by Subaru on the Viziv Future Concept’s powertrain, only that it is powered by a downsized boxer turbo with a hybrid, most probably the 1.6-liter combo with some hybrid system from the gas-electric XV Crosstrek.
Besides that, a single electric motor on the rear axle goes for a prop shaft and proposes a new interpretation of the Subaru’s signature all-wheel-drive platform. This saves weight while minimizing emissions and maximizing fuel economy.
Subaru Impreza, on the other hand, will be Subaru’s second world premiere at Tokyo. The 5-door concept car’s two sketches have been released by Subaru. The Subaru Impreza hatchback has a new design, which are the C-shape headlamps, interconnected front and rear fender flares, and an oblique greenhouse. No further details are revealed, but we hope that the concept will be revealed soon.
