The last Beijing Auto Show played host to many concept vehicles and among them is the Volkswagen Golf R concept. If you are a fan of the VW Golf, then you should take another look at the concept vehicle as it will be the base model for the upcoming Golf R facelift.
This is confirmed by Volkswagen last week when they announced that the hatchback will be taking inspiration from the study as the German carmaker looks to revive the styling on the 1989 Rally Golf. In other words, you could be seeing the Golf R facelift with lemon yellow exterior and silver interior.
There will also be some improvements on the performance front as the Golf R Facelift looks to run on the Haldex 5 AWD system while being towed by a 2.2L turbocharged engine. To complete the package, the Golf R facelift will be equipped with a 7-speed DSG transmission.
In figures, the Golf R facelift is expected to develop 292hp while also being able to accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds. Of course, details are still scarce at the moment but we can expect VW to share more information in the coming months.
