The Volkswagen Golf R has never failed to be one of the most popular sports hatchbacks in the world. Now, fans of the Golf R should get excited as next year, VW will be launching a new Facelift model of the vehicle.
It was announced and confirmed by VW yesterday and the automotive firm claim that the Golf R Facelift will be based on its concept which was unveiled back at the last Beijing Auto Show.
As such, it is safe to assume that the Golf R Facelift will be wearing a yellow paintjob with silver for its interior. After all, VW aims to restore the spirit of the legendary 1989 Rally Golf with the upcoming facelift model.
Of course, the technology will be up to date as the Golf R Facelift is expected to be built on the Haldex 5 platform. The vehicle will be an AWD and it will run on 2.2L turbocharged engine mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission.
While details are yet to be shared by VW, the Golf R Facelift is also expect to come with 292hp and the ability to sprint from 0-62mph in about 3.9 seconds.
