Volkswagen has confirmed that the Golf R Facelift that was unveiled at the last Beijing Auto Show will be stepping into production. The German carmaker teased that the Golf R Facelift is going to be something unique when released in 2016.
VW claims that the Golf R Facelift will be driving on the Haldex 5 AWD system. The car will be powered by a 2L turbocharged engine that is mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission. This will develop about 292hp. If it is to come true, then we can look forward to seeing the Golf R Facelift enjoying an acceleration timing of 3.9 seconds.
More importantly, the VW Golf R Facelift is going to look anything like its predecessor. Volkswagen teased on how the upcoming vehicle will draw inspiration from the 1989 Rally Golf. The Golf R Facelift will have a silver-themed interior with lemon yellow striking out of the main colour.
