Volkswagen enthusiasts have every right to get excited as the German carmaker has confirmed that they will be launching the Golf R Facelift early next year. VW also revealed that the upcoming facelift model will be based on the concept that was unveiled back at the last Beijing Auto Show.
With that being said, fans of the Golf badge can look forward to seeing the styling from the 1989 Rally Golf being incorporated with the Golf Facelift. The sports hatchback will also be driving on the Haldex 5 AWD system that is powered by a 2.2L turbocharged engine.
In figures, the Golf R Facelift looks set to offer 292hp pumped through the 7-speed DSG gearbox. Also, the vehicle is expected to accelerate from 0-62mph in about 3.9 seconds.
For a Facelift model, that is a lot of changes coming with the vehicle. To complete the overall nostalgic package, the Golf R facelift will be coated in lemon yellow for its exterior and silver for its interior.
