Back in 1989, there was a craze for the Volkswagen Golf Rally. Now, the spirit of this old great car is looking to make a return in the form of the upcoming Golf R Facelift.
This is confirmed after VW announced that the car will be based on its concept model that was unveiled at the last Beijing Auto Show. When observing the concept, it wears a lemon yellow exterior with a silver interior, just like the old Golf Rally.
Of course, the future Golf R Facelift will also integrate itself with all the best specs in today’s times like an infotainment system, multi-purpose steering wheel and also adaptive cruise control.
The Golf R Facelift is tipped to run on the 2.2L turbocharged engine that is paired to a 7-speed DSG transmission. The sports hatch will be driving on the Haldex 5 AWD system. In figures, the Golf R Facelift has about 292hp in the bag and will also be able to sprint from 0-62mph in about 3.9 seconds.
Then again, details on the Golf R Facelift are still scarce at the moment but consumers can expect more spills prior to the Golf R Facelift’s debut that is happening next year.
