Volkswagen promised last week that the Golf R Facelift will be launched in exactly a year from now as part of their 2016 line-up. The sports hatch is also confirmed to come with a totally different styling that is inspired by the legendary 1989 Golf Rally.
When it comes to specifications, VW shared that the Golf R Facelift will be powered by a 2.2L turbocharged engine that is mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission. Also, the hot hatch will be driven on the AWD system.
While no official figures are out yet, such a build will allow the Golf R Facelift to generate a whopping 292hp. Acceleration from 0-62mph is expected to be clocked at around the 3.9 seconds mark.
The Golf R Facelift is expected to enjoy a global release and it is possibly VW’s response to the Ford Focus RS. Details are still scarce at the moment but car junkies can look forward to more reveals when the calendar nears the Golf R Facelift’s release.
