Volkswagen has confirmed that the existing Golf R will be refreshed with a facelift model that is due to arrive in 2016. The upcoming car is said to be a throwback of the past as it will be taking some design inspiration from the classic 1989 Rally Golf.
As such, car junkies can look forward to seeing the Golf R Facelift to be coated in lemon yellow. The interior, on the other hand, will be themed in silver.
Of course, things will be futuristic under the hood as the Golf R Facelift is expected to draw its power from a 2.2L turbocharged engine, mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission. This will allow the car to generate 292hp and sprint from 0-100km/h in just 3.9 seconds while driving on the Haldex 5 AWD system.
All in all, the Golf R Facelift is going to be a splendid and spectacular car overall. VW Golf fans can look forward to seeing the car’s concept model being unveiled in the upcoming Detroit Auto Show.
