2016 Volkswagen Golf 400: 400HP Not Worth It

Volkswagen may have a long history for producing great cars but they seem to have little interest for the US consumers. This is evident with the vehicles offered here, which are always retuned to be the lesser version of those that are offered in Europe.

Well, this pattern might soon change for the better after VW’s chief, Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neusser revealed that the future Golf R 400 is going to be sold in the US.

The Golf R 400 is going to be a really powerful hatchback as it is teased to come with at least 400hp to offer. While Neusser didn’t share on the price of the Golf R 400, the hatchback is expected to retail around $50,000 to $55,000.

For the average car consumer, this might sound really expensive. Well, it is only expensive if consumers still perceive the Golf as an upper-mid market vehicle.

Our advice is for these consumers to judge the price based on the performance of the car. The Golf R 400 will surely be able to complete a sprint from 0-62mph in under 4 seconds and for this sort of performance, $50,000 is considered a steal.
