Toyota has revealed another gasoline-electric vehicle that’s set to take the market by storm in 2016, it’s the newest hybrid: Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. For some reason, we still think it sounds like a codename for some military aspects (no offense). It claims to be a “mid-cycle refresh” of the long-and-running vehicle range, and to top it all up: updated designs and improved performance would be among the many other features.
Updated Design
What we can expect out of this crossover hybrid is the updated front and rear fascia. And since the hybrid versions of the RAV4 are only available in Limited and XLE trims, they’ll certainly feature daytime running lights (DRL) as well as light tube taillights, respectively. There’re other enhancements made for the interior, allowing a more spacious feel to the front door panels. Minimalism might just be what they’ve planned for this model.
Cargo and Gasoline Capacity
The slight reduction in the RAV4 Hybrid’s cargo capacity might not be a downside after all. Although it’s due to the addition of a 244-volt sealed Ni-MH battery located under the vehicle’s rear seat, the second row can still accommodate a large amount of luggage. So it’s still a win-win situation. For the gasoline capacity, it’s a 14.8 gallons compared to the gas-only version (15.9 gallons).
Hybrid Engine
It will be sporting a 2.5-litre four-cylinder gasoline engine, with two electric motors in the front and rear, and can reach up to 194 horsepower when driving. Also worthy to note is that the RAV4 can generate up to 112 horsepower and produces up to 206 pound-feet of torque as well.
Road Performance
Some sources said that it feels almost as effortless as the Buick. With a steering system that’s more conventional and a more updated suspension, we really won’t beg to differ. Other improvements are enhanced in terms of shock calibration, sound insulation and spring rates, all with the general idea of making the crossover quiet to handle on the roads.
So, with the RAV4 priced as low as $24,350, would this rather be your choice of car that will have you taking it for a spin?
