Toyota’s newest hybrid vehicle, the 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, will be joining the lineup of the company’s gasoline-electric vehicles, and it’s considered to be a “mid-cycle refresh” of the long-and-running vehicle. It’s going to have an updated design, improved performance and many other features.
Updated Design
The crossover hybrid will bring in an updated front and rear fascia as well as other enhancements in the interior. However, the hybrid versions of the RAV4 are only available in Limited and XLE trims, thus, they’ll feature daytime running lights (DRL) as well as light tube taillights, respectively. It’s also more spacious in the front door panels, providing a minimalistic feel compared to earlier designs.
Good thing, no?
Cargo and Gasoline Capacity
Although there’s a slight reduction in the RAV4 Hybrid’s cargo capacity due to the addition of a 244-volt sealed Ni-MH battery located under the vehicle’s rear seat, the second row can well accommodate a large amount of luggage. In terms of gasoline capacity, it’s a 14.8 gallons compared to the gas-only version, which is 15.9 gallons.
Hybrid Engine
Powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder gasoline engine and two electric motors in the front and rear, the RAV4 can generate up to 112 horsepower. It can even reach up to 194 horsepower when driving, and produces up to 206 pound-feet of torque as well.
Road Performance
Accordingly, it feels almost as effortless as the Buicks, with a steering system that’s more conventional and a more updated suspension. There are also other improvements such as the shock calibration, sound insulation and spring rates, making the crossover quiet to handle on the open roads.
With the RAV4 priced as low as $24,350 for the gasoline-only LE trim, will you be looking into purchasing this fine beauty?
