2015 will be a special year for Toyota as it will mark the Hilux’s tenth anniversary. There is no better way to celebrate this milestone than to produce the next-generation Hilux and Toyota did just that.
This upcoming vehicle is expected to arrive late next year and it will be nothing like the existing models. Even the design has been overhauled and the structure too will be tweaked to start on a new future.
Under the hood, the Hilux will draw its powers from a 2.5 liter or a 3.0 liter diesel engine. Some reports further suggest that Toyota will be adding a third option and that is the 4.0-liter V6 engine. Despite the large engine capacity, Toyota will surely tune them to offer the best gas mileage in its segment. In addition to that, the Hilux will surely drive on the AWD system.
The suspensions too will be improved on. After all, the Hilux is already confirmed to come with a towing capacity that maxes out at 6,500lbs. There is no way this can be achieved with the existing absorbers.
As for the design, the front portion of the Hilux will come with a futuristic styling that sports a new grille and a pair of new-looking headlights. Even the taillights will be updated with LED bulbs.
Inside the cabin, the Hilux will feature leather wrapping the seats and also, nailed to the dashboard. The space will also be improved on but this will depend on the structure of the Hilux. Also, it is obvious that a new steering wheel will be replacing the old one.
Of course, there is no telling for sure on the sort of price tag that will be stringed on the Hilux. On the other hand, we can assume it to be around the $20,000 mark for the entry model. Prices will surely be kept below the $50,000 mark for the top-of-the-range model.
When the Hilux gets released, it will look to challenge close rivals like the Nissan Navara and the Mitsubishi Triton.
