Mazda is going to reveal the latest 2016 Mazda RX8 at the Tokyo Motor Show next month for others to have a look at the new sports coupe concept. A teaser that was out shows a rearward-cab designed tow door with an oblique roofline and a lengthy bonnet that looks like the Jaguar F-Type. Mazda depicts it as the company’s great sports car history.
Besides the new concept, we will see a 1967 Mazda Cosmo Sport 110S, which is the company’s first rotary powered mass-production car at Tokyo. The last time a rotary engine is used in a Mazda was the RX8’s four-door coupe from the 2012 line-up.
However, it is unsure whether the new concept will directly substitute Mazda RX8, but judging from the signs, there is a possibility that Mazda RX8 will be the Japanese new sports car will in the next few years. The question is, should Mazda bring back the rotary engine tech to its production cars?
More details will be revealed during the 2015 Tokyo show. Till then, Mazda hard-core fans can give their own opinion whether this car will have a place in their heart, or is it just going to be another typical car model in the market.
