It wasn’t that long ago when Mazda talked about the future Miata MX-5’s powertrain and now, the Japanese carmaker has returned to reveal the fuel efficiency of this upcoming roadster.
Mazda revealed that the Miata MX-5 will return 27mpg city, 34mpg highway and 30mpg combined. Of course, this is for the roadster that runs on a 6 speed manual gearbox. For those running on the automatic gearbox, the Miata MX-5 returns 27mpg city, 36mpg highway and 30mpg combined.
Mazda then went on to brag that the future MX-5 Miata is about 25% more fuel efficient than the previous generation model. This will make the MX-5 Miata more popular as it is able to offer great handling and performance from its 2L 4-cyinder unit while being fuel efficient at the same time.
Then again, running the Miata MX-5 on a daily basis will still be a little costly in the long run as the engine can only drink high octane fuels. It is a requirement for drivers to feed the roadster with premium fuels and this can be a financial pain in the long run.
