We have finally gotten behind the wheel of the latest Mazda 3 and it is simply a superb CUV to own. Powered by a 2L 4-cylinder engine with SkyActiv technology, the Mazda 3 is both decently powered and fuel efficient as well.
In figures, the Mazda 3 generates about 146hp and 146ft-lbs of torque. The ponies are pumped through a 6-speed automatic transmission and this also aid in returning an average fuel consumption of about 33mpg during our test.
That is very impressive and considering the fact that the CX-3 only weighs at 2,809ft-lbs and retails around the $20,000 mark. However, the CUV does feel underpowered when we attempted to accelerate from knots to 60mph.
Furthermore, the CX-3 has one of the smallest interior in the segment. The leg room is simply not big enough for the rear seat passengers and so is the shoulder room. Heck, it is so cramped inside the vehicle that there is no arm rest for the CX-3.
In short, this means that the CX-3 is a bad vehicle for passengers as it has little comfort to offer. The lack of comfort on the CX-3 is a hazard to the CUV’s sales. After all, it is comfort that blessed the latest Honda HR-V with an explosive launch.
