Lexus has confirmed that next year will see the arrival of the RX Facelift and the refresh will involve both the RX350 and the RX450. Now, the luxury firm of Toyota has returned to the spotlight to share more details on the upcoming RX Facelift.
In short, Lexus came out to share that the future RX will be utilizing aluminium for its hood, tailgate and closures. The new choice of metal is opted with the aim to make the RX Facelift lighter than the existing model. This also means that the RX Facelift will be better optimized for power and more fuel efficient than before.
While it might sound positive, many fear that the aluminium parts will make the RX less durable and sturdy than the current RX. Well, Lexus did ease those fears when they claim that the aluminium used has been engineered to be as strong as conventional metals.
The choice of aluminium seems to be a growing trend in the automotive industry with many major carmakers opting for the metal to make their vehicles lighter.
