Lexus is currently developing a new facelift model of both the RX350 and RX450, and they are due to make their debut early next year. On average, facelifted cars have subtle changes made from the original model. For the future RX Facelift, the difference is huge.
This was confirmed earlier today when Lexus revealed that the RX Facelift is to incorporate aluminium for its hood, tailgate and closures. The decision was made with the aim to drag the weight of the RX Facelift down.
With the SUV weighing lighter than before, there will be obvious improvements to the fuel consumption rate and better power optimization.
Some might worry that the aluminium might make the RX SUV more fragile but Lexus rubbishes those claims by revealing that their brand of aluminium is as tough as conventional metal.
Lexus is not the first in the world to apply aluminium on its vehicle as the trend is already being practiced by many other carmakers, particularly those from Germany.
