Toyota’s luxury arm, Lexus, will be launching a new-looking RX SUV late next year and the vehicle is confirmed to be part of the company’s 2016 line-up. The RX Facelift will come in two models and they are the RX350 and the RX450.
The special thing about the SUV is that it is going to be so much lighter than before, even though it shares the same platform with the Toyota Highlander. This is made possible through utilizing aluminium.
In detail, Lexus shared that the RX350 and RX450 will both come with aluminium hood, tailgate ad closures. It might not be a lot but it does work in cutting a big percentage of the vehicle’s weight.
All in all, the move made by Lexus to opt for Aluminium will surely start a trend on future vehicles which the company will produce. Of course, Lexus is not alone since most German carmakers too are using highly advanced aluminium for their cars.
