The recent Geneva Motor Show saw Kia unveiling the upcoming Cee’d GT and the vehicle does look promising in every way. The Cee’d is said to be making its debut later this year as part of Kia’s MY2016 line-up and it is also going to be featuring a smaller capacity engine.
In detail, Kia confirmed that the Cee’d will be powered by a 1L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine. This setup is exactly like the reigning hatchback champion, the Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost.
Then again, power figures showed that the Cee’d is still half-a-step behind as it can only develop 118hp and 127ft-lbs of torque. The power is pumped through a 6-speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, Kia teased that they will also be offering the hatch with the newly-developed 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, hence, making it more identical to the Ford Fiesta.
However, the 7-speed dual-clutch will only be offered with the upgraded 1.6-liter diesel four-cylinder with 131 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque variant.
With the Cee’d making its debut soon, it might just be able to overthrow the Fiesta and become the bestselling most powerful mini hatchback in the world.
