Hyundai has confirmed that it will be unveiling the next-generation Elantra in April next-month and it will be taking place in the carmaker’s home country, South Korea.
It wasn’t that long ago when we discussed on the design elements of the upcoming Elantra and now, we will explore on the car’s powertrain.
Word has it that the Hyundai Elantra will be equipped with the newly developed 1.6L turbocharged, direct-injection 4-cylinder engine which was first introduced on the recently unveiled Hyundai Tucson.
If so, then this would mean that the Elantra will pack 174hp which is pumped through either a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission or a six-speed manual gearbox. Fuel economy is expected to return 24/33/27mpg.
While that may sound decent, many car analysts felt that it would be better if the next-gen Elentra comes with the newer 2.0L GDI as the standard engine. Such a rig will surely have better fuel consumption ratings and more power to offer.
Of course, there has yet to be any confirmation on what sort of powertrain will look to feature on the Hyundai Elantra. This will have to wait until the Elantra gets fully unveiled next month.
