It has been a long while since the last Honda Pilot got released and soon, there will be a new model to update it. Today, the world can already catch a glimpse of the 2016 Honda Pilot after spy shots of the vehicle got exhibited on the internet.
While it might be wrapped in camouflage, we can still tell that the upcoming Honda Pilot is going to be larger than before. The Pilot is already revealed to be built on the same platform as the Acura MDX. As a result, the spy shots confirmed that the Pilot features more overhand at the back and a longer roofline. This could also hint on super-spacious third-row seats.
Design-wise, the taillights still maintains its boxy shape from the existing model but the headlights are more horizontal and angular than before. In short, the front lights looks as if it was taken from the Accord.
While nothing has been revealed on the sort of powertrain coming to the future Pilot, we believe that it will be the 3.5 litre V6 with fuel injection as it drives on either the FWD or the AWD system. Some analysts went as far as suggesting it to be the V6 used by the Accord, paired with 6-speed automatic transmission.
Then again, it is still too early to predict on the sort of offering coming with the Pilot. For all we know, the large SUV will be looking to compete with the Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Nissan Pathfinder and Dodge Durango when it gets released.
