Honda has confirmed that it will be updating the Pilot SUV with a brand new model that is due to arrive in 2016. The vehicle is expected to come with plenty of new and improved features as it looks to stand out in the large SUV category.
Well, car junkies don’t have to wait until 2016 to take a look at the Pilot. New spy shots of the vehicle running some tests have already surfaced and it confirms that the vehicle is going to be much bigger than ever.
Built on the same platform as the Acura MDX, the Pilot comes with more overhand at the back and a longer roofline. This could also hint on super-spacious third-row seats.
Unlike most cars from today, the Pilot is going to sport a boxier structure. This can be seen with the taillights that appear to be unchanged from the existing model. As for the front portion, the Pilot will come with a pair of headlights that are more angular than before. Then again, the headlights looks exactly like those on the latest Honda Accord.
Furthermore, the engine too is tipped to be identical to the ones offered on the latter. This is the V6 mill that is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission meant for the top of the range model. As for the standard Pilot, we can expect it to be powered by a 3.5L V6 that operates on both the FWD and AWD system.
While it all sounds likely, the powertrain options are still unconfirmed and is best taken with a pinch of salt. The design, however, looks appealing and we can expect it to be that way when the next-generation Pilot makes its debut.
