Volkswagen returned to the spotlight earlier today when they officially unveiled their first every gasoline-powered BlueMotion Golf TSI. This is exciting for every Golf lovers since the BlueMotion TSI makes the upcoming Golf the most fuel efficient Golf model in history.
Powered by a 1L 3-Cylinder TSI turbocharged unit, the Golf is able to return an average fuel consumption rate of about 54.7mpg. This figure applies for both the 7-speed DSG model and also the 6-speed manual gearbox.
For some, the engine displacement might sound too small but that does not mean it is not powerful. VW shared that they were able to achieve the highest ever torque per litre with the 1L unit. In figures, it is 200Nm of torque. On top of that, there are 113 ponies for drivers to play with.
The unfortunate thing is that VW has failed to indicate on if the Golf TSI Bluemotion will be distributed in the US. Hence, one can only assume that the car won’t be coming to the US at all.
