The Ford Mustang has long existed as something built to offer raw power. Throughout the course of history, the Mustang has always been the most powerful muscle car in the world. However, we feel that it could have been better.
Just by looking at the Ford Mustang, we feel that it could have offered more. The existing model runs on a 5L V8 naturally-aspirated engine that is port-injected. With such a powertrain, the Mustang is able to generate 444 ponies.
If Ford is to apply the same engine with direct injection, we are very sure that it could produce more power than what is available now. Also, the fact that the Mustang is growing to be lighter by the years means that the direct injection engine will be much more powerful if it gets implemented on the next model.
In figures, the loss of 150lbs translates to 15hp gain. With rumours revealing that the next-gen Mustang to be smaller and much lighter than before, it will surely be more powerful than what is offered today.
